The Meadowbrook School of Weston

Org Design, Inside Out

Turned a new-but-unused makerspace into a school-wide design capability teachers actually own.

The Challenge

Meadowbrook had installed a new makerspace but lacked the teacher buy-in and curriculum integration for staff to feel secure leveraging the new tools. They needed to become a design-capable STEAM institution — from the inside out.

The Approach

We led with coaching and capability mapping rather than a top-down mandate — helping science teachers pilot new ways of integrating design-thinking projects into the curriculum they already taught.

The Process

  1. Mapped curriculum objectives as capabilities and desired outcomes, showing how skills would transfer from one project to the next.

  2. Built practical tools that made design-thinking integration legible to educators.

  3. Implemented a new governance model bringing the makerspace specialist into the classroom to cut redundancy in project design.

The Outcome

Teachers who worked with us emerged confident and capable — carrying a prototyping mindset into their curriculum.

The initiative spread organically as new teachers approached the team as advocates.
